Soda Can Stars

I've been gearing up for lots of upcoming craft shows, and I love this new idea of making stars out of cans! I figure it's a cute Xmas ornament idea, so I've been busy making a constellation of stars!

Painted Wreath

OK, so this is one of those projects that was fun, but didn't turn out as expected, so live and learn! This wreath was a pain in the @$% to spraypaint, and still looks horrible, and the lack of substance makes it an oval, not round anymore... Still, it's a cheap wreath and I'll leave it up a while until another idea strikes me...

Toilet Paper Roll Wreath

Last night I was bored and feeling crafty, so I started this project that I'd been wanting to do for a few months, making a toilet paper roll wreath! Here's my inspiration - http://alisaburke.blogspot.com/2009/11/recycled-wreath-tutorial.html and also http://www.designspongeonline.com/2009/11/diy-project-toilet-paper-roll-wall-art.html, So easy and fun!~ Just make your design, then hot glue gun it all together. Now I need to decide what color it should be, blue or white? hmmmmm...

More Sweater Boots...

Can you tell when I get obsessed with something?? Now I made some navy blue boots, and these fit entirely different, the sweater material is looser.... It's amazing how different a project can come out. I need brown next!!!

Soda Can Mirrors-Finally finished 2!!!!

I'm so happy with how these turned out!! As you may recall, I've been working on these for MONTHS!!! Mine turned out a bit different than my inspiration's :( http://www.flickr.com/photos/dogfaceboy/3716158/), but still looks great! Now I'm off to try frames next!

Simple Tutorial for Recycling Crayons

Since I'm finding pieces of crayons ALL over the house, I gathered them all up and made this simple project...

1. Heat oven to 250.

2. Fill a mold/candy mold/decorative pan with crayon pieces and bake until crayons start to melt 10-15 min. Hint- put a sheet pan underneath to catch any drips, and keep an eye on them.

3. Let cool, then remove from mold and smooth down any edges by rubbing on a sheet of paper.

4. Enjoy!

Tutorial for Soda Can Flowers

Christian suggested that I do a tutorial for the soda can flowers, so here it is!



You will need:
Tin snips, scissors, Sharpie marker, glue adhesive, wire, pliers/nippers, alcohol/swabs, and a hammer/ punch, and of course 2-3 cool cans...



1. Pick out 2-3 cans to use

2. Cut into mouth of can with tin snips

3. Cut across cans with scissors to make differing overall heights for your layers

4. Mark sections off with your marker, for as many petals as desired

5. Cut down as close to bottom of can as possible for your petal shapes - (can be pointed petals or rounded)

6. Carefully bend petals down flat out. CAUTION: all edges are extremely sharp!

7. Clean off marker and bottom writing of can with alcohol/swabs

8. Punch hole in "back" layer can with hammer and punch

9. Cut about 2 feet of wire, double over and poke through hole to front of flower and bend to keep in place (Should have a "knot" coming up through this hole)

10. Glue around edge of back can flower to hide wire and attach both

11. Push top can layer on top , push down to adhere- let dry a few hours

12. Glue bead/marble/etc to center for decoration if desired, let dry

13. Enjoy!

Silk Sari yarn scarf

Hope this winter is a cold one!! I'm working on yet another scarf with this awesome recycled silk sari yarn, I'm loving the textures and colors!! I should probably try again to learn to purl, since this is the extent of my repertoire!!

Recycled Silk Sari Yarn

I'm very excited about the new yarn that came today!! I ordered some recycled silk sari yarn, and didn't know what to expect, It could have been stiff, have an odor, be hard to work with, etc... BUT, this yarn is amazing!!! Soft, no odor, incredible deep color, and well matched for 5 skeins worth!!

I'm also happy with the swift I made from tinkertoys to wind it, great for an occasional ball winder like me!
