1st try Chain Scarf- Failed...

I've loved this idea that I found on Knitty.com of a chain link scarf, but I'm not good enough yet to knit it, so I made i-cords on my Knifty Knitter and tied them together, then felted it all in the washing machine... Wow! It really felts down, now it's way to short to really use as a scarf... That was all I had of that yarn, so guess now I know what to do next time with a whole lot more yarn and links!

I fell in love with a typewriter key bracelet that I got at a craftshow, so here's my versions of that cool bracelet style!

Hokie Hat from Handspun Yarn

I've really been amazed at how easy it is to spin my own yarn!! Mine is nowhere near professional or even very strong (probably), but this was a fun project! This will be for my mom for christmas (shhhhhh!)... Go Hokies!

Hokie Handspun Yarn

Since my brother went to Virginia Tech, my family are of course true "hokies", so I'm spinning up some yarn from hokie colored roving to make some hats... Wish I knew how much yarn a hat would need, since I'm not measuring my yardage as I go....

Green Lap Blanket- In Progress

Since my show the other week, I've been trying my hardest not to just keep making more "stuff", and promising myself to just create for ME for a while... So, here's a lap blanket that I'm working on, had to start over 5 times! Started out trying to do Tunisian Crochet, but the stitch was too tight and I wanted this yarn to go farther than that because I only have 8 balls at the moment. So, we are back to my old stand-by, the garter stitch, with this awesome yarn from Gedifra called "super-gigante" in a gorgeous green!!!

Holiday Bazaar

On Saturday I participated in a local Holiday Bazaar with my friend Gloria (seen here), and I was just AMAZED at the amount of stuff I've made recently, been a little toooooo prolific! I did well at this show, now on to trying to unload the rest of it, check me out at my Etsy store : mynaptimedesigns.etsy.com.... Maybe now I'll focus on more projects for the family instead!

YAY It's DONE!!! Mama's got a brand new bag!!!!

After over 6 months of work, thousands of soda pop tabs, miles of leather cord and fishing wire, sore fingers, and lots of cussin', I'm finally done with my purse!!!!! Here's my inspiration : http://www.ecoist.com/pc/viewcategories.asp?idCategory=41&pageStyle=H. If I'd known how to crochet it all together, it probably woulda been much easier!! Now I have the only one like this out there, because I will NEVER make one like this again!!!!

Knitted Wire Bracelets

These have been my latest victory, using both my knitting "skills" and my love of jewelry to marry the two together! While the wire is a bit hard on the hands, this is so simple I can't believe I never figured it out before... Here's 2 outta 6 bracelets using pearls and other funky beads....

Can you tell when I get obsessed with something?? Now I made some navy blue boots, and these fit entirely different, the sweater material is looser.... It's amazing how different a project can come out. I need brown next!!!

Sweater Boots

I love this project!!! Just go to the thrift store (or grab an old pair of pumps), and a sweater with long decorative arms, and glue together with E6000 glue, and voila!!!!
Here's the tutorial that I followed - http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=324310.0
Now on to making more in other colors!!!

My 1st Spun Yarn!!

On Saturday I went to the local Spinning Guild Meeting determined to figure out how to spin on my drop spindle, and I think I've got it!!!! Using scraps of wool roving I spun my own yarn, then came home and knitted a potholder with it!!! Good thing I love thick-thin yarn, because that seems to be my specialty!! Can't wait to actually make some yarn for a purpose....

Creepy Halloween

I helped a friend with some Halloween ideas for his front porch. We came up with the idea of the cocooned babydoll in the spiderweb, (which is even funnier because he lives across from an elementary school!), and he's also going to add blinking "eyes" in the bushes... I love Halloween!! Now on to decorating my own porch!!!

2nd Hat!

My first hat!!!

Since coming back from my crafty weekend, my head has been bursting with ideas! I got out my drop spindle again to try hand spinning, and that was another disaster, so I went back to loom knitting which is something I CAN do, and here's my very first hat!!! I love how the loom knitting looks like knitting without the necessary knowledge of knitting, (which mine is still at the beginner's stage)... Guess I need to not so far ahead of myself!!

First one is for my daughter, the next is for my son!

I'm going to the Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair in DC on Saturday, then going to the Fall Fiber Festival near Charlottesville, VA on Sunday. Next week, I should be rarin' to go with lotsa new ideas and supplies!

Stuffed Animal Zoo

This is another great idea from Family Fun Magazine, and it's another easy one! Just drill screws into elastic strips on your bookcase to turn it into a stuffed animal zoo/jail! My kids LOVE this, and love cleaning up now!

So Simple Pussy Willow Tutorial

I found this idea in a magazine a few years back, and it killed two birds with one stone- it made me clean the yard, and it gave me a fun recycling project for my fall flower display!!

1. Cut the tips diagonally off of a bunch of Q-tips.

2. Using a brown marker, color the stem brown.

3. Use tacky glue to attach to your sticks
4. Enjoy!!
