My 3rd sock!

Finished my 3rd sock today!  This pattern is called Triangulate from the book Socks a la Carte by Jonelle Raffino & Katherine Cade, with a dutch heel and star toe, and it's the 1st time I followed more of a pattern with my socks.  Please ignore the glitch midway through, although now I have to make the same mistake on the second one, wish me luck!....

Since Sterling prices have gotten insane, I've been playing with bronze wire wrapping, here's some new pieces with fun pearls...

Spring Wreath

I made this spring wreath for my grandmother's nursing home door, it was fun and easy!  I took a green foam wreath blank, and wrapped furry green yarn around it, then added butterflies and a bluebird...  Soft and cute!

1st sock(s)- finished!

Yay!  Finally finished my 1st pair of socks, or rather my 1st sock and it's evil twin!  They both turned out too big, so I had to frog them and redo the toe from cuff down...  Actually the evil twin's cuff was reworked 3 times and it's toe twice...  Either way, I now "get it" and think this sock making thing isn't so bad!!!  If I can do it, anyone can!

2nd Window

I finally finished my 2nd stained glass window!  This one is smaller than the 1st, and has a bit more red, which I'm unsure about...  I think I might do more in this series, so stay tuned!

Wire Wrapped Bronze Jewelry

Lately I have so many ideas in my head, and projects started, that I may go CRAZY!  Last weekend I went to Charlottesville, VA with my guru to lots of fiber, yarn and bead stores, and now I'm even more excited than usual!  I found some cotton plants and liberated them of some bolls, so now I'm also fighting with spinning the fiber...  Stay tuned for the madness, in the meantime, here are some new bronze wire wrapped pieces I just finished...

Knit Poncho

I finally finished my knit poncho and it's huge, fluffy and warm!  Now I just hope the weather stays chilly so I can wear it...  This was another great stash buster!

Progress on New Window

I'm taking the same class making the same window, so there's nothing new here really, but at least it's a bit smaller, going quicker, and will hopefully make me some $$$$...  Anyone interested let me know!!!  This time it's taking me about 2 hours each pane, so stay posted!

Knit Lions

I finally finished these 2 knit lions for my kids, from Nicky Epstein's Block by Block book.  I'm not quite happy with them, but at least they are DONE!  I like the turtle pattern better, but they were still alot of fun to make, so easy!  Maybe rabbits next for Easter? hmmmm.....

1/2 of Poncho

I've been in the middle of lots of different projects lately, and can't seem to finish any of them!  Here is 1/2 of a poncho I'm working on before it gets too warm here in Virginia.  Of course I didn't pay attention to the pattern until too late, it's not supposed to have fringe on both sides, but somehow I will make it work!  I'm making it in the same scrap knit style using my stash like I did for my daughter's blanket, so fun!

I'm also making a planet pinata for my son's birthday party Sunday, and trying to finish up his knit lion for his birthday, more pics to come....

Valentine's Roses from my Hubby!

Hubby tried to be crafty for Valentine's Day to woo me, and it WORKED!  He made a dozen foam roses from scratch as a surprise for me, so sweet!

Valentine's Yarn Hearts

I got this idea from Family Fun magazine, I made hearts for my 6 year old daughter's class, and they kinda look like they've been made by a 6 year old!!  Still, they are fun and cute...  Just make a cornstarch paste and coat the yarn pieces, then use a cookie cutter for the heart shape and let dry.

Knit Turtle from Nicky Epstein's class

This turtle is what I made in my NYC class with Nicky Epstein out of one 10 inch block, so cute and ingenious!!  Now the kids have demanded lions, also from her new book, so I'll let you see that progress soon!

1st Sock done! One to go!

Finally finished 1 sock, but now I'm having lotsa trouble getting the next one started because my guru isn't around!  This sock turned out way too big, but it sure will be comfy!

NYC- Vogue Knitting Live

I love, love, love NYC, it's such an energizing and inspiring city!  My class with Nicky Epstein was awesome and I learned about knitting from silk hankies from my friend;s class with the Yarn Harlot.  My yarn and bead stash has now gotten outta hand, and my head is full of too many new ideas!!!  Here's some photos from the convention...

Progress on Sock

I was at a standstill on my sock until my guru could show me how to turn the heel, but now I'm almost there!  The problem is that it's a bit too large, which is sad...  Maybe it'll shrink a little?  At least this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!

I went to JoAnne's for 60 feet more of filler cord, and I STILL don't think it'll be enough!  30 more feet to go before I decide... 

Homework for Vogue Knitting Live

I'm so excited that I'm able to go to NYC Jan 22-24 for Vogue Knitting Live!!  I'm taking Nicky Epstein's class on block by block knitting, and trying to finish up my "homework" before I go!  This will be an awesome trip to see the celebrities of the knitting world, and it's also my 1st trip to NY!!!   Any advice on what I NEED to see or do while I'm there?
